first I apologize if this have been asked before, and second I DID use the search button, I don't understand people that come to "support" forums to complain about people asking for help? anyways. my problem is as follow I've been trying to use dreamweaver to upload a site,(I'm new to dreamweaver and to bluehost, I was using frontpage with godaddy hosting) but so far haven't been able to connecto using FTP. I did see the other people talking about using as user name = site.com and the user and password the same as the cpanel, well it kept on giving and error and now I can't even go into cpanel thru bluehost.com so did I just waste 300 dlls on dreamweaver? i was used to frontpage and decide to try dreamweaver due to people saying frontpage is garbage. but now I'm stuck with a useless site. please any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

If you can't even log into cPanel, your account may have been blocked because of unsuccessful login attempts. Get in touch with BH (phone or use Live Chat), and get that sorted out, first.
Uploading with Dreamweaver should be pretty much the same as it is with any FTP client software package. The server is www.yourdomain.com, the username is your BH account username (usually the first 8 letters of your domain name), and the password is your BH password. The host directory on the server is public_html. Leave everything else unchecked - the defaults should work.

I am having the same issue. I am entering my login and password correctly - the same one I've used at BH for the last three months - and I can't get the FTP in Dreamweaver to connect. It says my password is incorrect. It's working to login to my cPanel, so I know it's the right password...what might I be doing wrong?
Thanks.

Tough to say. Of course, if you're using the wrong username, the error message would probably still say that the password is wrong (all it knows is that the login has failed), so double-check both. Passwords are case-sensitive, so don't overlook that. Can you connect with an FTP client program?

Well, now I can't even login to cPanel. Site is unresponsive. Once I can get back in there, I'll check if I can use FTP another way and check back in here.

Repeated attempts to connect with an invalid username/password combo will get you blocked at the firewall. Contact BH for help (use Live Chat, from the main BH page - no need to login first).

i was banned - so i called and they said they'd send a link to get me set up with Dreamweaver, but it's the same link I originally began with. Frustrating.
So - maybe it'll help to mention that the domain I am using is a subdomain of my original. the site is lbound.com or lbound.uncouthheathen.com. uncouthheathen.com is my domain.
Here is what I'm doing with Dreamweaver to set up the remote FTP:
Access: FTP
FTP Host: lbound.com
Host Directory:/public.html/lbound/
Login: uncouthheathen.com
PW: ****
thanks for your help.

Yeah, Live Chat is a lifesaver!
I'm guessing that the login was incorrect - it should have been just "uncouthh".

Live Chat Rocks! Kudos.
Personally, I find Dreamweaver too slow when connecting and transferring files so I use a 3rd party program (Apple) called Fetch. It's very fast and very reliable. Both Fetch and Dreamweaver are open and accessible on my PC 24/7 for quick changes or alterations.
