You need software installed on the server to do that. It is usually easiest if you find hosting that specialises in that type of hosting so as to have the software preinstalled for you.

streaming a live feed will be hard. And you will need specialised software like helix streaming server.

Alternative will be streming video. Not live.
You can use the quicktime format quit easily.

Yes I agree with these posts. I do live streaming and streaming files for radio and television.

You will need a dedicated machine for the live stream, and a service that specializes in live streaming.

Otherwise, if you just want to stream a video, that is easy.

I used to use WebCam32 and that would allow me to bounce it back to my home machine to use as the server giving live video on my page.

Where would be the best place to find the hosting with the live video feed for those of us that may want to use it specifically to keep tabs on our kids using a secure site with password protected page(s) (pages if we add in a calendar, notes, and blog section)?

Thanks in Advance.

I've seen live streaming with webcams and the software that comes with it. You don't need a dedicated server.

I run a live video out of my 18 wheeler Mon-Fri and I use www.camstreams.com and it is free.

That might work for when you only have one or perhaps two people viewing the video at any one time but if you expect to have hundreds accessing it at the same time you will need a dedicated server.

We currently rent a dedicated server, and are looking for information on how to run live feed. Our live feed must be able to cover not only virtual events, as well as real time. We already know how to pre-record and run after.. we want live, on the spot, real time feed with audio.
can you help us with that?
If you would like to view our site it is vrseries.com
We are looking forward to your reply.
