:o Please excuse my simple question:
When I create a new filter rule for my mail account, am I supposed to add one word/phrase at a time? Is it possible to add a whole list of words/phrases in one window? For example: Body text - Contains - List of words
Another question: When I hit a "Clear Spam Box" button, then look in my WebMail Horde Spam folder, all the filtered mail in my Spam folder is still there. Then I have to delete manually all files and then clear Trash folder - Empty Trash. Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for your help.

I ran into trouble using the "user level filters" ... I spent hours entering one at a time about 400 filter words and phrases... and then found that I was blocking a lot of mail...some that I even cc'd myself.
I asked support for help in deleting all of these filters at one time because it seems that the problem is with phrases... If I use the phrase "order your meds" it blocks subject lines that contain any one of these words.
So, I've started using Box Trapper which requires verification of senders...a real pain because I'll probably miss official business emails when they bounce back to the senders trash or bulk mail folders...but somethings gotta be done about the flood of spam...You have box trapper in your control panel
I hope you get the answers you need about entering words or phrases from someone in the know.

Thanks Courage/Dale,
I would like to avoid using Box Trapper - at least for now - I don't want to load my problems on my correspondents (including the potential ones).
Thanks again.

I'd say to try postini ... cheap at 2 bucks a month ... seems to be much more effective than trying to add all of the individual words and phrases into the "user level filter."

Thanks Courage,
I might just do that.:)

A much easier and free of charge solution:
Switch your email account from BH to Google Apps (http://www.google.com/a/org/?hl=en). You still use the email address of your domain, but the email is run via Google servers, and they have IMHO the best spam filter on the market. Since we switched to Google Apps spam mails went down from 3000-5000 to ca. 10-20 spam mails a month and we have only of 1-2 'false positives' a month.
Search this forum for more information.

Thanks Ferdinand,
sounds like a good idea. One thing is not clear: can I really use my email address through Google Apps?:) How does it work?

Yes, you can use your domaine name hello@yourdomaine.com and you will have 100 emailaddresses for free. You just have to change one record at BH to point the emails to the Google servers.
Another advantage of Google Apps, there are/will be many third party apps available as well as all other Google features like the calendar. I just started to use Google calendar as our team calendar in combination with rememberthemilk.com.
There is only one small downdside. If you have a mail form at your homepage, setting up the email details is a little bit tricky.
