At the risk of being shot I need to inquire regarding FrontPage publishing.
I've been with HM for a year and the following procedure has always worked.
1) Using the Control Panel I set up a subdomain - we'll call it sub1.mydomain.com
2) Again, using the CP I configure an FTP logon - again sub1@mydomain.com

3) Install the FrontPage extensions using the CP.

After waiting a short while for these new settings to propogate I have always been able to logon to the FrontPage subdomain sub1.mydomain.com by using FrontPage and providing the logon ID and password.

However, recently HM has upgraded their CP and now the logon's to these FrontPage-enabled subdomains does not work. I get no error message just a repeated logon question.

I've spent over an hour on the phone with support all they can tell me is that I have to use a special URL and setup a FrontPage user. I tried that and when I logon to the sub1.mydomain.com account I find myself in the root folder of public_html instead of inside the sub1 domain folder.

Nothing I've tried has worked inspite of the fact that it's been working for a year until recently. Tech support has been no help.

As we have several sub-domains going and about 50% of them use FrontPage it's going to take some effort to rid ourselves of FrontPage and move into something else. In the meantime, I'm looking for some ideas.

Has anyone else run into this recently? Suggestions welcome.

Thanks in Advance,

Techgy

Did you try to uninstall the Fp extensions then do a clean up of the extensions then reinstall the extensions do this for all sites using Fp. If that doesn't work you can publish your site to a local folder then upload it (By FTP not FP FTP there are good free ones around) to a sub domain without FP extensions, but it has to be published to a local folder first.

Magpie,

As I indicated, I spent over an hour with Tech Support and yes, I had re-installed the extensions several times.

It turns out that a recent upgrade to the cpanel for both BlueHost and Hostmonster (same owner) has resulted in a corruption of the FrontPage Extensions.
Third level administration has been working to resolve this issue for the past week and it is still broken. I must admit that they're giving it a good effort, but I'm of the opinion that FrontPage needs to disappear.

Your idea about publishing to a local folder sounds interesting. If I continue having this problem I may give it a try.

Thanks for the suggestions.
