Hi,

Here is the problem:

- an addon domain has email users that use Outlook 2002, 2007 and email was working fine until last week
- both users now get "Enter Network Password" dialog boxes repeatedly
- a user on my main domain also uses Outlook 2002 but has email working fine, with no problems.

I have searched this and many forums and tried a number of things:

- removed accounts and carefully re-entered email info
- increased timeout server
- removed certain antivirus programs
- added outlook to windows firewall (the only firewall I can find running, the gateway firewall is off)
- removed registry entries as described by microsoft in their "Save password setting not retained in Outlook" Q290684
- rebooted
- rebooted gateway
- deleted outstanding mail in webmail

The strange this is that when I sent a test email from another server to the user, it bypasses the queue that was sitting in the webmail and is received OK, but the dialog box pops up all the time anyway.

It seems strange as both machines were working fine with email until some time last week. I have reset passwords on server and removed and then reset passwords on workstation and laptop.

Webmail works fine with username and password information for these users.

Please help if you can.
Thanks
Rob

Have been having the same troubles. Ever since the cpanel got changed none of my users have been able to use our email addresses. It just comes up enter password even though we know its the right pass.

Yes, it did seem to correspond to the same time as the cpanel update.

Has anyone solved the problem? And why only on the addon domain and not on the main domain?

Not quite a solution but I've been using the gmail free business email functions for receiving email for my domains. It allows you account@mydomain.com addresses, has POP3 and... it' s Gmail.
I pointed the MX records at bluehost to the gmail servers and that's it.
https://www.google.com/a/Home is the link. I've been using it for about 6 months now with no problems whatsoever.

OK - have been chatting with support and had a possible solution out of left field (as they sometimes are).

He checked the domain name and it isn't pointed at bluehost anymore! Such a simple solution to a problem that has been plaguing me all afternoon. It seems the previous provider has overwritten the name servers and pointed it back at themselves!

I didn't even consider it as I have made the change a few weeks back and then setup the email. Then when Outlook started playing up at about the same time that cPanel was changed...

Thanks to those that helped. I'll post again after nameservers are changed again and everything works.

I've been using google for my domain mail and can say I haven't been happier! I don't even use a mail client anymore because the UI is so good!

It seems that the previous host has a reseller deal with the domain company and does a blanket update every so often.

This means that after I redelegated to Bluehost, the previous host updated their delegations with their supplier and my domain pointed back to them.

Here was I trying to solve a mail problem on a domain that wasn't pointing to me! The moral? Always check the basics when you come up against a problem that doesn't make sense.
