I'm Having a devil of a time uploading a php file i created

I have tried ftp, creating the file name in both file managers and then copy/paste the code. I have used two different code editers to create the code.

nothing works. All I get is an empty file.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

create the php file at local computer, paste the code.
then only ftp the file over to the server.
Sure will work this way.
