reseting awstats

Hi,
since i am going to release my site to the public i wanted to reset my awstats. I deleted the awstats082007 file from /tmp/awstats/ as indicated in the Awstats website.
But, a new log file wasnt created and it doesnt log when I acces my site (everything still at 0). Do i need to create it manually or will it just be automatically created later?

The files should be created at a later point in time, AWStats is not a real time monitor, it is run on a schedule every 24 hours I believe.
