Hi everyone,

I'm totally new to hosting services and domains, and am hoping someone on these forums can help me.

I decided to start a self-hosted Wordpress blog, so being a total newbie, I went to godaddy to buy a domain 12 days ago. This was actually before I even knew what host I was going to go with.

Anyway, I just bought my Bluehost subscription, and am confused as to how to transfer the domain to Bluehost. When I went into the cpanel under manage domains, i clicked "the transfer" button and got the following error...

DOMAIN nintendopulse.com JUST REGISTERED [REGISTRAR ] 12 DAYS AGO!
You must wait another 49 days and try again.

Please tell me this isn't what I think it means. Please tell me I'm not going to lose 2 months of hosting and domain use while I wait for this thing to transfer. I just want to get online and start blogging, and now i feel like I made some mistakes. Please help!

NintendoPulse you have to wait 60 days after you get the domain to transfer it you can go into your godaddy user panel and change the Name servers to

NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
NS2.BLUEHOST.COM

Thanks for the reply. Do I do that from the CName Alias menu, or the A (Host) config in the Total DNS Control panel?

Since I am not allowed to make the transfer for 60 days, is there any way i can configure the domain to still let me access Bluehost and my blog remotely?

you can leave domain at existing registrar.. and transfer it after 60 days.
Just change the nameserver to point to bluehost ns mentioned above. :)

To change domain DNS information in godaddy, log in to your godaddy account

... click "My account"

Under "My products", click on "Manage Domains"

The domain(s) will appear on a list, click on the desired one...and there you will see a section to changing the DNS. Change them to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com

Unless you have a special reason, you may not need to transfer it to Bluehost while you host your site with them. If you still decide to transfer, you might want to know that Bluehost will immediately request that you pay an additional $10 to "extend" the domain name registration by an extra year! Well, it happened to me just yesterday :)

There is no need to transfer your domain to BlueHost if you already have it with GoDaddy.com or whomever. I've purchased more than a few domains from GD and just point my DNS information to the BH servers.
