Yea i do the same. I forward all my email to my gmail account and then if I have to respond to an email then I just log into that other email account and go from there. Most of the time I don't get...
Just use a template, its so much easier and faster. Unless of course you are into making templates and want a specific design for your site then go for it!
My personal recommendation is for AceSEF. Used it for awhile now and it works great!
Its a pretty simple upgrade just follow the directions and make a backup before you do it. That way in case of emergency you can always go back!
Just a word of advice if you do host a website and blog make sure the databases are separate. This allows you to backup the sites separately and will prevent any data overrides from occurring.

Good to know. Seems like this could be a problem if you are hosting user submitted content like an image host or something similar to that.
Yup most modern browsers support gzip. However, you may have trouble if people are using old browsers.
