Default CPU exceeded it's CPU quota

I had 2 different database engineers look at my mysql database, and both said the same thing:
My site and tables are completely optimized. The reason my site is suffering is because the server is simply overloaded. There is nothing I can do on my end, it is blue host's responsibility...period.

I've tried everything. One database engineer (with a phD in computer engineering) said even if I paid him $2500.00, he still couldn't fix it. I am awaiting bluehost to fix it. I am losing money every second my site is down

If you genuinely believe that to be the case, you should find another webhost, move your site, and get a prorated refund from BH. "Waiting for bluehost to fix it" is probably not going to bring any success.

As far as I can tell, there are 155 sites on my server. When 1 site exceeds cpu quota, all the sites on the server are down too. Are you saying that if I want to run one wordpress blog, bluehost just can't perform well enough to keep it running and I should just take my business elsewhere?

It depends on how many people you have visiting your site. The other sites on the server will not affect whether your site goes down with CPU exceeded or not.

There are two reasons for CPU exceeded and one is that your scripts are not properly optimised. The other is that you have outgrown shared hosting and have so many visitors that you need more CPU than shared hosting can provide. When that situation arises then you need to look at hosting where you either have the server to yourself or have at most four or five other sites sharing the server.

    Hi!

Since 1 week i get a CPU error quota. I didn't makes any changes on the server/website and the users on day are not much more than 20 at the same time.Would somebody help me to find out where is the problem? My site is an vBulletin forum.

The errors that i have found on the tmp/cpu_exceeded_logs are:

CPU Exceeded Log For Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008

Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 1681.00 seconds of cpu time for [[mysql query]]
    Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 0.01 seconds of cpu time for /ramdisk/bin/php5 /home/site/public_html/showthread.php
    Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 0.03 seconds of cpu time for /ramdisk/bin/php5 /home/site/public_html/search.php

I will much appreciate this. Thanks in advance.

If you are running scripts that use too much cpu then spend that $2500 on a dedicated server. You're paying 7 or so bucks a month to get shared hosting with staff that are on the phones 24 hours a day who will even talk you through stuff that has nothing to even do with them.

Yeah, I think getting your site shut down is a bit rough. Luckily I haven't had that happen to me yet, but as my site grows and the databases to my 3 yr old wordpress/joomla installs start getting to be as big as movies, I'll have to cut out some things like PUBLIC SEARCH through my monstrous databases.

note to everyone with OLD blogs that are just starting to get these errors: your site gets bigger and bigger every time someone comments or you update your blog. After a few years when people run a search on your site, its having to search through ridiculous amounts of info.
If you need people to be able to search 'Hot Dog' and be able to find that time when you had a bbq with your family back in 2001, then you may run into some issues here... sorry if I've rambled.
