As far as I can tell, there are 155 sites on my server. When 1 site exceeds cpu quota, all the sites on the server are down too. Are you saying that if I want to run one wordpress blog, bluehost just can't perform well enough to keep it running and I should just take my business elsewhere?

It depends on how many people you have visiting your site. The other sites on the server will not affect whether your site goes down with CPU exceeded or not.

There are two reasons for CPU exceeded and one is that your scripts are not properly optimised. The other is that you have outgrown shared hosting and have so many visitors that you need more CPU than shared hosting can provide. When that situation arises then you need to look at hosting where you either have the server to yourself or have at most four or five other sites sharing the server.

    Hi!

Since 1 week i get a CPU error quota. I didn't makes any changes on the server/website and the users on day are not much more than 20 at the same time.Would somebody help me to find out where is the problem? My site is an vBulletin forum.

The errors that i have found on the tmp/cpu_exceeded_logs are:

CPU Exceeded Log For Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008

Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 1681.00 seconds of cpu time for [[mysql query]]
    Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 0.01 seconds of cpu time for /ramdisk/bin/php5 /home/site/public_html/showthread.php
    Thu Jul 17 14:22:06 2008: used 0.03 seconds of cpu time for /ramdisk/bin/php5 /home/site/public_html/search.php
