Thread: How can I remove my site from BlueHost?

Question How can I remove my site from BlueHost?

I have had a website hosted by BlueHost for several months. Recently I have developed a new site, using the Macintosh web-design program iWeb, and want to publish my site using .Mac. The latest version of the software allows me to use my own domain name -- shinywhistle.com -- but currently anybody who types that name into the URL frame gets my old site, hosted by BlueHost.

No hard feelings, but I simply want to remove my website from BlueHost so that my domain name will be freed up for this other use. I can find plenty of info about how to sign-up with BlueHost, but nothing that tells me how to reverse the process. Can someone -- in plain English, please -- enlighten me about this? Thank you!

you can login to bluehost cpanel...
either you change the domain nameserver to point to your new server, or you could transfer the domain to the new hosting.

I don't know if this solution is of interest for you:

Could you guys give a tutorial on putting up a site made with iweb without using .mac?

Well the only difference is that instead of choosing "Publish to .Mac" in the File menu you choose "Publish to a Folder..." Once that's done you just need to upload the contents of that folder to the root folder for your site on your webserver with a FTP client like Transmit.

The normal way to leave any web hosting provider is to follow the signup process of your new hosting provider who should tell you how to transfer your hosting and domain from where ever you had it before to their service. If they don't tell you that then they probably wont tell you anything else you need to know about hosting with them either.
