Space available for uploads is falling way too rapidly

I'm hoping someone can explain to me what's going on here. I've just opened an account with bluehost, and I was in the process of uploading a few files for the start of a new website I'm working on. Using the legacy file manager, I went to the upload files section and across the top of page it listed: "Space available for uploads: 300GB". So I uploaded my few files and now the message says: "Space available for uploads: 195GB" That would be fine, except the few files that I uploaded totaled 54.68 KB. What's going on here? Am I going to lose the ability to upload files when this thing reaches zero?

How much space does cPanel report as being available?

cpanel is showing 0.41/1536000.00 MB. Not even a dent in the space, that's why I don't understand why I'm being told my alloted upload space is running out on the upload screen.

Shoot I just went to upload an updated .gif and the number fell 3 GB to 192 GB. And that's while I wasn't even on the computer. I'm starting to get the feeling I must be missing something that's really obvious.

Have you tried ignoring it?

That's how I handle these situations.

That is the method I most prefer, however, I was wanting to get ahead of the problem this time. Maybe it won't amount to anything, I was mostly worried that I had missed some little detail when I signed up for the account or something. You know like, "Bluehost will give you 1,500 GB of space, but we won't let you upload more the 60KB a month." That sort of thing.

Bluehost can handle large uploads and downloads.

I have seen the control panel display an incorrect amount of space available. Don't worry. It seems to correct itself after the day.

I've thrown huge files in servers at bluehost and all works well.

I had never used the File Manager for uploading (preferring an FTP client program - much easier to use), but I just took a look, and the "space available" number is wildly inaccurate. Looks like a classic cPanel bug, to be ignored.

Thanks everybody, that's good to hear. I use ftp for another site that I administer and I prefer using ftp also, I just haven't taken the time to make a new profile for this bluehost account. I'm still in the play around with everything stage. Thanks again.

Heh. My cPanel still lists 0.00/∞ MB used. I'll keep that bug! I've actually used about 110 and can't think of what to legitimately use the other 1390GB for.
