    Default Connecting to MySQL remotely.

Hey I'm trying to use a program that needs to remotely connect to my MySQL databases but its telling me I cant connect.

Its asking for the host and port, and I'm just using my domain name and the default port, anyone got any ideas?

I do it all the time with SQLyog and HeidiSQL, and even tried with MySQL Tools. You have to make sure your firewall allows your IP, and also to set the IP in Remote Access. Both are accessable from cPanel. After the upgrade of Apache there are some issues with host. For me I have purchased dedicated host IP. Was using it before upgrade. After upgrade it stopped working. Was directed by support to use general IP for server, that's working so i'm cool with it. I wrote a forum post about this and guess you didn't search forum, or didn't find it. Bummer. Good luck.

You need to supply your IP address in the Remote MySQL pane, but on a shared server (as opposed to a dedicated IP) you also need to contact BH to have them manually whitelist that IP address.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. It seems to be working a bit better now. What port should I connect on?
