Default Upgrading BH Account to Features Offered To New Accounts

This question is often asked here in the forum so thought I'd give the usual answer.

If you signed up for a BlueHost account days, weeks, or months ago and noticed that they now offer additional features (disk space, maximum transfer, etc.) for new clients, you may contact BH and have them move you to a server with these features. It should be noted, however, that this will require some downtime as they move your files from server to server. Also, if you do not have a real need for these features, it probably isn't worth the effort. BH does monitor account usage and if they believe that you have a need for the additional features, they will automatically move you.

To upgrade the disk space they need to move sites to servers with larger slower drives. Some of the other upgrades such as number of domains can be upgraded just by asking and without requiring any move or downtime although in general if you start to get close to the old limits currently applying to your account they will upgrade you as necessary before you have chance to ask.

I like to know whether the new benefits will be automatically upgraded to the present accounts.

When I purchased the web hosting here (about one year back), the disk space allowed was 300Gb and data transfer was 3000Gb. My present use is well inside this.. but if I need more will you automaticlly upgrade to the present unlimited disk space and unlimited data transfer option?

And for that upgrade how much downtime will be there? And after the shifting will I have to set up the whole sites from the the start?

My present account will expire in about 30 days. If the above option is not feasible, then I will let that to expire and then take up a new account here.

Also one more thing, does the upgradation slow down my sites ?

If you need the extra they will upgrade you automatically. If that involves allocating extra disk space then it may require a move to a new box with a bigger slower hard drive. Your site will be down while it is moved. There should be nothing you need do.

The only difference that letting your current account expire and then rejoining is that you will get all the new options before you need it, the hard drive your site will be on will be slower, and your site will be down for longer than it would if you waited until they move it for you because of needing the space.
