help - addon domain
Hello,
Can someone help me :
I purshased a new domain and add it as an addon domain to my my main domain.
When I type [www.]addon.com[/], it opens [www.]maindomain.com[/]
But when I type [www.]addon.com/index.htm it works perfectly.
(I don't use any redirection)
How can I have all my files within my addon domain directory openned without displaying the main domain name on the url
Thank for your help

I think you have to use redirection
Use the Addon-Domain icon from the cpane.Once this is done, return to the addon domain screen, and at the bottom setup redirection for this addon domain, to point to where you like. So again, to recap, remove from parked, addon as regular addon domain, then configure a proper re-direction address.

Thank you
I added a redirection from http://addon.com to http://maindomain.com/addon/
but how can I change the url appearing :
from www.maindomain.com/addon/whatever.htm
to simply www.addon.com/whatever.htm
thank you very much for your help

After you have setup the addon/pointed domain, there will be a sub-folder created in your "public_html" folder (i.e. "/public_html/addon_domain_foldername"), you will have to upload your files for this pointed/addon domain to the subfolder created. If you have did this and going to www.addon.com/whatever.htm still don't work I would call bluehost and ask them.
hope you get it worked out

Do I have to set a re-direct
from : subdomain
to : subdomain folder on public_html
is that correct?
thank you

Hi there,
When I established my add-on domain a subdirectory was created for it in my main public_html folder. All I had to do was upload files into this folder and they could be accessed perfectly from www.addon.com rather than www.main.com/addon
You shouldn't have to be doing redirects... Call support!
Cheers,

hello,
Thanks for you'll help
I put the solution for people having the same problem
In order to set my new add on domain name correctly I had to:
- add it as a normal addon domain (from cpanel)
- remove redirections on the main domain (from cpanel or .htaccess), if you need a redirection from your main domain you'll have to use a meta refresh tag instead of cpanel or .htaccess configuration
- clear the browser's cache

Finally, an answer I can understand! Thanks for the work on the addon, this is a different approach to my previous host, not mentioning any names, (powweb), this is so much easier. I was trying to do more than required. Hurrah for Bluehost!
