IMAP Subfolders on Outlook
Hello all, and thank you in advance...
Is it true that there are no IMAP subfolders like Trash, Sent Items on the server? When I connect to the server with Outlook, I only see "Inbox" when I try to subscribe, I only see Inbox. I called Tech support and they told me that that was the only folder available and the other folders only exist locally.
When I log in to SquirrelMail, I see Inbox, Sent Items, and Trash.
How do I get these folders to show up on Outlook? If this it is true that these don't exist on the server, then I will move on with my life...
Thank you,

With IMAP you can create whatever folders you want, so if those folders don't already exist, then just create them using your Email client. This is usually done by right-clicking on the Inbox, and choosing "new folder", or through the "File" menu. Those folders will be on the remote server.
Be aware however, that the folders you mention are so-called "special folders", but this only matters to the Email client (in your case Outlook). I don't use Outlook, but somewhere there should be a preferences section for where sent items are stored, and which folder is the trash. Usually the first time you send a message the "sent" folder is automatically created, and similarly the first time you delete a message the "trash" folder is created, if those folders don't already exist.
With e.g. Thunderbird, it automatically creates 4 folders with each new account: Sent, Deleted, Drafts and Templates. Each Email client will have its own idiosyncrasies, so it's just a case of try it and see.

OK. So here is deal after some experimenting with Corbin in Tech Support. WIth Outlook 2003, you have to set up the accounts, then once they are set up as IMAP, you will only see the Inbox.
You have to Login into SquirrelMail send a test message then subscribe to the IMAP folder in Outlook again. You will see, Inbox, Inbox.Sent, Inbox.Drafts, Inbox.Trash. Subscribe to all these and you will begin synchronizing properly!
