PhpBB Auto Login Problem
I searched for a while yesterday, on these forums, on google, on yahoo....I couldn't find anything that helped.
I used auto-cookies, and that fixed phpBB from randomly logging out users, but it still won't auto login users if they exit the forums and enter again. Their session stays active as long as they have any page of the forum up.
I checked the settings for auto login in the Admin Control Panel, they are correct.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a bit confused ... "auto-cookies" was a mod for phpBB2 to fix a few issues usually when you move a forum and it's not run from the ACP
Are you talking about the default cookie options in phpBB2 or phpBB3? If it's phpBB2 you should try removing the encryption option. Also if you may want to try renaming the cookie name.
If those don't work be sure to turn Fast-CGI "Off" it messes up the login/logout system for pretty much everything

Thanks! I will try everything you suggested, if they don't work I will post with closer specifications of my problem.

Ok, sorry for the double post, but I have an update on the problem. Along with a bit more specs.
I am running phpbb3. I tried renaming the cookie, didn't work. I didn't do the encryption option, because I am not running phpbb2. (You said do this if I am running phpbb2)
I checked the Fast-CGI option, and it was already off. Any other suggestions?
~Again, thanks for helping.

Could it be how your browser is handling your cookies? You said ... "Their session stays active as long as they have any page of the forum up." Also are you using a CMS of some type or maybe embeding non-phpBB3 scripts in your page? Because it may just be your session manager messing up your session ID.
The default phpBB3 script works fine here if you turn Fast-CGI off :dunno:

Well, if it was my browser handling cookies different, would it be affecting everybody on the forums? Right now, I haven't used a CMS, or embedded any scripts in my page.

It would be unlikely to effect "everyone" but you should make sure that everyone who has complained is not using the same system. Back when AOL first started using proxy-servers I got dozens of complaints on my phpBB2 forum and it took me forever to figure out it was AOL that was causing the problem.
Anyways, your problem is beyond me
... I recommend you go to phpbb.com and check out their community help. They are really very good and have even started recommending bluehost for their software so hopefully they will be able to resolve your issue quickly.
Good luck!

Well, someone has reported that they use AOL, and they aren't even able to login half of the time.
Thanks for your help!
