Private Message Spam?

On occasion, a user will register for these forums, and will launch into a spam campaign, using the Private Message capability of the forums. The moderators don't really have any way of detecting when this is happening - we can be suspicious when we see a user spending all his time private messaging, but since we can't view the messages, we're not in a position to determine conclusively what's happening.

If you receive any PMs that are clearly spam, please let the moderators know about it - the perpetrator will be dealt with very quickly. Click on Private Messages, top right, and address a message directly to me and/or one of the other mods. Don't use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page - those messages just produce an automated response to the effect that you can no longer use email to request support.

I get PM's on occasion, where the question makes no sense, or the question is too easy to answer.

And all of them have an email for me to respond to...this leads me to believe that the person sending the PM wants me to use my email program so they can get my email address---

AND SEND ME SPAM, SPAM, AND MORE SPAM. Then add my email to a list for more SPAM.

I just ignore them.
