Question Is a secure session possible in the Control Panel?

Am I missing something simple, because I have not figured out a way to have a secure browser session when making changes on my domain through the BlueHost Control Panel.

    https://login.bluehost.com/frontend/bluehost/index.html <- 404 file not found
    https://login.bluehost.com/frontend/bluehost/index2.html<- 404 file not found
    (attempted after login)

    Default Secure Login

They do support a secure login. Just simply go to https://www.bluehost.com/

That gives you a secure login, but as soon as you get to cPanel, you're back to http.

    try this..

    https://box61.bluehost.com:2083/fron...ost/index.html

I do not understand they do not make this the only way of using the cpannel, this is an interface to many potential password transfer (ftp etc..) making this plain text is a HUGE security risk IMHO..

Ok and watchout, it does go back to HTTP but not too often ...

I am still in main domain transfer limbo, so I got P00r suggestion to work, but I had to get the correct 'box##' for my server. I got my box number from a secure webmail session so my secure C.P. URL was https://box###.bluehost.com:2083/frontend/bluehost/index.html

see http://helpdesk.bluehost.com/kb/inde...root=22&id=180 for information on secure webmail session.

    thks all

You box number is usually the last digit of the IP of your website as far as I can tell..

    Default Secure Control panel

    https://yourdomain.com:2083

will get you into your control panel via a scure connection and keep your secure connection the whole time you are in your control panel.

I registered my domain with Bluehost yesterday. Within about a half hour I was able to view my site via my regular domain name.

I've been around computers and the internet for a number of years, however, I'm an absolute beginner with server-side, web-hosted matter. I setup the domain to learn, play with, and someday create a web site to my liking.

I didn't think about it initially but then became concerned that the Control Panel login from the main Bluehost page is not secure. Via this thread and the Bluehost help page I found a couple of different ways to login to the Control Panel securely. However, the secure login doesn't work for me for my domain or box number.

    https://box61.bluehost.com:2083/fron...ost/index.html
    https://www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/securecontrolpanel

I replaced the 'box61' in the example link (above) with my own 'box145' number. Firefox and IE both say they can't establish a connection to the server at box145.bluehost.com:2083. Yet I can get a secure login for any other box including box144 and box146.

I'm wondering if I need to contact Bluehost support to get help in resolving my secure login problem? Or am I missing something subtle in how to access to my site via a secure Control Panel login?

NOTE: my domain name matches my forum name
