Thread: Ever heard of or used Nexternal shopping cart?

Default Ever heard of or used Nexternal shopping cart?

When I was searching for free skins for cube cart which are supposedly plentiful but are actually very rare and ugly, in google I got a link to a comparison to nexternal and cubecart. They won't even put a price on the website so I knew it must be expensive so I google that and found a few reviews of the product.

Looks like it will cost between $1000-$2000 to set up. Sounds outrageous until you read the reviews. It apparently has an intuitive search engine that even provides other suggestions to the customer once they place something in their shopping cart. Many people have claimed that their sales increased by 40%.

The only way to get an actual price is to have one of their sales reps call you. I'm trying top prepare myself for a pushy salesman.

Here is a link to the reviews.

From looking at google it appears they have compared themselves to a lot of different shopping carts.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this one.

    Thanks!

An update on this. From the first documentation that I saw I was under the impression that it was software to be hosted on your hosted site. Not. They also host and a lot of other stuff but is EXPENSIVE.

I think I'll stick with what I got. I went ahead and signed up for cubecart. I was impressed that when I email them I actually got a response. Even a discussion! Hopefully this one will be what I need.

This brings up an interesting discussion.

First off, $XXXX.XX is expensive for a shopping cart. My first recommendation would be to use Zen Cart. Free and powerful, nice support forum.

That being said, if you don't want to fuss with the site design and worry about configuring files and stuff and things, then $XXXX.XX might be a deal.

Or you could go with an open source shopping cart like Zen Cart, and if you don't have a clue on what to do with it, then you end up paying somebody like me to customize it.

Bottom line is that if you take an open source program for ecommerce, and pay to have it installed and configured and customized, it belongs to you. And Bluehost has reasonable costs for hosting.

Beware of any company that wants to host, use their software, and charge you monthly rates for hosting and software use. Your just might end up making boat payments for somebody that does nothing on a monthly basis. And they love you to death every month when they get your checks, but when you actually ask them to perform a customized function...they quote $XXXX.XX

I have one client in this pickle. I have to recreate an ecommerce site for them, because the host charges monthly rates for hosting, and the use of their software for ecommerce.

Posting actual prices is not allowed in this forum, but it OK for me to say they pay $XXX.XX per month, AND they cannot move the site to a new host...nor have the database, nor the images they uploaded...just plain screwed if they don't like the prices.

A year ago, I lost a client to this type of scam. (yes, scam) Handsome men showed up in business suits, took this prospective client out to expensive lunches and dinners, promised the world, and even gave her a weekend in a time share beach house. She was so charmed by real real, real professionals that she made that executive decision to go with them.

...And to this day I still get emails from this company wanting to have me do some work...the new company charges outrageous fees...but I can't. There is no FTP access for me, and I am not allowed to edit their software.

No more beach house, no more lunches and dinners, no more free tickets to the symphony. Only outrageous monthly fees and bound by a 3 year contract.

Beware of any company that will host your ecommerce site and NOT allow FTP access.

    Sigh. <!--end my therapy session...-->

    Thumbs up Good recommendation!

Yea 1000 - 2000 bucks is pretty pricey for a shopping cart. One I would recommend is X-Cart, just do a google search on it and guaranteed you will be impressed. I use it on my company website, www.SpeedyPocketBikes.com and I have not had any trouble with it and its features continue to impress everyone on the team.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Open source always rocks and you can pay a freelancer way less than that amount to get a VERY nice job done. Don't pay that amount for a cart like that.

To the guy who said Magento...it looks nice! has a crapload of features
