    Default Dreamweaver -> Website Issues

    Good Evening All,

    I am new to bluehost. I was previously with register.com. I'm beginner level with Dreamweaver 8 but I do manage to get some ok websites written. I'm having a problem and I'm pretty sure I know what's wrong minus the answer. I created the site on my laptop and when I preview it in IE or Firefox it looks fine. All pictures, background, etc. show up fine. Here is the issue. When I upload using the FTP in Dreamweaver I followed the tutorial here. Everything works with that as well. I also sent the index.html to the correct folder public_html/ as well as all the associated pictures. This is the point where I get stuck. When I look at the website online it's just a bunch of code, the background color is different, there are red x's where the pics should be and generally the whole format is wrong. Now I imagine the problem is that the original website I created linked everything to my desktop where it was saved. I know this because if I move index.htnl from my desktop to a different folder it looks the same as it displays on the internet. This is where I get lost. I have no idea how to fix it. Thanks for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

    Could you provide us a link to your site so we could look at it in detail? It will be a lot easier for us to figure out what's wrong that way.

    What you need to do is to have everything in the same place on your own computer relative to the page as where you are going to upload it to. The easiest way is to set up a folder on your computer to represent your site. Everything to go on the site needs to go in that folder before you link it into your page.
