Default My databases are gone on box 287

Sunday night and I noticed that all my databases on box 287 have disappeared. They were all there on Friday when I last created a new database And BH is closed for the holiday. Great customer service. Thanks.

Anyone else on this box having problems? Luckily I have fairly recent backup of the databases.

They magically reappeared. I guess I was unlucky to discover they were missing.

Does anyone have any theories why they would have been missing? I was on box 287 on the 26th according to the email address from Wordpress database backup. So that seems to indicate I didn't stumble upon a box change. Would a hard-drive upgrade make sense?

If I had to guess, there was probably a problem with MySQL. If MySQL goes down for any reason (there is a daemon that runs to monitor it), it should be restarted automatically, but there are situations when an administrator needs to intervene to bring MySQL back up. When you look in cPanel while MySQL is down it looks like the databases have disappeared rather than suggesting that it is down (just a weird cPanel thing, I imagine). While Bluehost support may be gone for the Labor Day holiday, I assure you that the systems administrators are keeping an eye on things just as they always do.

Yup! pretty much what cade said. This has happened to me a few times, usually when BH is upgrading something though I just had this problem the other day too and to make things even wierder your databases work again before they will show up in CPanel or even be accessible from an ssh command. Seriously what's up with that

I did look at the service status in the cPanel and everything was running fine. MySQL had a green light. I assume the MySQL service would have shown a red warning light if it was down, which I have seen a few times in the past when by databases were unaccessible.

    Thanks for the earlier replies.
