Question php.ini. default. Does it work with wordpress?

Someone please make a short tutorial on Upload Limits?

I have tried everything that I have read on both this forum, Wordpress and Google search.
Information is limited and when I follow the steps it still doesn't work.

I have changed my php.ini file to accomodate larger uploads. I have used the Bluehost option to make php.ini the default, still I cannot upload some of my pdf files. I only need 2-3 files, one is 13.5 mb, one is 11.9 mb and one is 2.4 mb. Changed the limit to 96mb ( that seems to be the most consistent # I have seen) and Wordpress will still not allow upload.

I have tried uploading to Wordpress 'uploads folder' via ftp and it will upload but then it doesn't show in wordpress media files.

Please help, these pdf's are part of some free lesson plans for geography and are often requested (when I had another host).

If no one can help. is there another path to upload the files to? I tried uploading one to (www.nhga.net)\public-html but that was a bust

    Thanks.

ps. this seems to be a major problem both here and wordpress so a tutorial would probably generate some traffic if someone wrote one

If you want to upload files bigger than 1Mb to your account then using FTP to do the upload is far more efficient than trying to use any web based solution (since HTTP which runs the web is designed for downloading files, not uploading them).

As long as you know which folder you uploaded the files to you will still be able to reference them from your web pages.

Thank you. I tried that before I came here but was obviously putting in the wrong path. I checked my folder path and now have all of my files uploaded. Thanks for helping.
