403.Forbidden
Hi all,
I am complete newbie, but a fast learner. I would like to start building site for fun. I signed up yesterday and i have my temporary link to my site as http://69.89.25.175/~studenx8/ however it says its forbidden. Even i upload my temporary index.html file into the public html folder, nothing comes up, same
Cab you please advice?

If you've uploaded an index.html to your public_html folder, you should delete any "default.htm" you find in that folder.
Did you register a domain with BH? I'm getting nothing on studenx8.com, even from OpenDNS, which usually sees even newly-registered domains within minutes.

Fix the permissions of your .htaccess file from 600 to 644.

Problem here is that i bought an .hu domain name and i cant transfer this domain to bluehost. However i asked the registerar company to forward the domain name tp bluehost's DNS servers. But until i do that, i should be able to use the temporary link but thats not working.
I will try fixing the permissions, but i hope it doesnt do anything bad, please advice...
Early out, my domain name is not studenx8.com, i just posted the temporary link there.

You should probably just hit Live Chat (big blue button on the main bluehost.com page), and get the support guys to look at your account, instead of groping around in the dark. They can see your files, and will be able to fix whatever is wrong very quickly.

reverend, where can i find that file to set the permissions?
-
The .htaccess file is under public_html, but the regular File Manager won't show it. Try Control Panel, Legacy File Manager. When the little box pops up, make sure that the radio button for "Web Root" is selected, and "Show hidden files" is checked, then hit Go. Then click on .htaccess, and choose "Change Permissions," on the right.
