Default Updating WordPress - Ticket No. 1145382

    Hi,

    I am a BlueHost Customer!

The bluehost helpdesk at http://helpdesk.bluehost.com is NOT taking my replies in spite of me logging-in properly and replying to the thread, so I am posting the reply here in hope someone in the admin take note of this.

    Ticket No. 1145382
    Subject: Updating WordPress
    Status: awaiting-reply

    Hi,

When I login in my Control Panel and click the Fantastico link, it says:

    Fantastico

    UPDATE NOW!
Following installations are not up-to-date. Keep your installations secure and up-to-date and ensure that future versions of Fantastico will be able to maintain your installations by updating now.

    WordPress
    Location Installed Version Upgrade Link
    dilipshaw.com/ 2.5.1 Upgrade to 2.6.2

It also shows in Current installations:
dilipshaw.com/ (2.5.1) Visit site Remove Upgrade to 2.6.2

If I click on this link will this upgrade my blog to 2.6.2 without disturbing my current posts?

It is an old blog with a lot of posts.

    Best Regards,

This is a user to user forum. The best way to contact support is via the big blue "Live Chat" button at the bottom left of their home page.

    Thanks felgall.

But why the support center NOT working?

The problem is, if I mail them, it says you need to use the support center, and when I use the support center the response just does NOT get registered. Strange that I get the message received confirmation.

Anyway Thanks, I will try that!

The three ways of contacting them are phone, live chat and support ticket. Of these the first two put you straight in touch with support while the third is for low priority requests that they get to when they have time.

    There is no mails support.

    Have you tried Live Chat?

    Hi, seop:

You SHOULD be able to make the update without any risk to your current posts. However, what I would suggest is that you do a search at the forums for a link to the automatic WP upgrade plugin that will do the same thing for you. The benefit is that it alerts you right away when an upgrade becomes available, and many of these upgrades are for security purposes. It's almost completely automated and fail-safe.

Fantastico is a nice tool but should only be used to do an initial installation of WP; it is historically been slow to provide updates.

    felgall,

I think there was some kind of delay. After 2 days of posting in help center, now I am seeing all my posts there. And they have replied.

Just when I thought of using Live Chat, they answered.

Thanks. Next time it will be Live Chat!

    redsox9,

Bang on point. What an answer!

    THANKS.

For those who read this. Here is the link to WordPress automatic upgrade plugin:

    Thank You redsox9 Once Again!

    Hi Moderators,

    One more question.

    Is there any difference between:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...matic-upgrade/

    And

    http://techie-buzz.com/wordpress-plu...de-plugin.html ?

    Which one is better?

Glad to have helped! FYI, both of those links reference the same plug-in.
