    Default Ftp Slow

Hi, before I begin I want to say I have tried improving the speed by looking at my Firewall and Anti-virus settings, also I have tried using Filezilla SFTP Using SSH2. Still the speed is slow, and it refuces to upload a 32KB Jpeg!

Either bluehost is capping my account, because before the speed was very good. (When I first purchased the account), I am seriously considering closing the account down, I feel maybe all hosts do this from time to time.

BH does not selectively throttle upload speeds. How would doing so benefit BH in any way?

I suspect that if you do a tracert between your PC and BH, you'll discover that there's a problem node somewhere along the line. Only your own ISP can address problems like that.

Dunno, also I am using Internet via my LG KU990 Viewty Mobile Phone, 3G. I am on unlimited Payment Plan. I can download files 100Mbs+ without trouble. I opened a ticket so I see what happens, maybe just one of those days

I have the same problem too. Yesterday I tried uploaded 10MB of multiple files and it took me half a day to complete them. Keep getting time out and file bigger than 32kb cannot be uploaded.

    ~sigh~

Same answer. There is no problem at BH, as far as I know. Do a tracert.

Depending on where in the world each user is located there are at least dozens and possibly hundreds of places that the problem can be that causes the slow uploads that are between the user and BlueHost none of which are under BlueHost's control to do anything about.

A tracert should help locate where the problem is occuring.

Default this is reply i got from bluehost

    Dear Valued BlueHost Customer,

Thank you for contacting us with your support question.

I was not able to replicate the connectivity issue you have been experiencing via FTP. I was able to connect just fine and upload files at a fairly decent speed. We do not throttle upload and download speeds. Usually the only thing prohibiting certain upload speeds is generally your ISP. If your ISP is not known to do this it is likely that there could be a connectivity issue. Also try powercycling your router and re-establishing a connection to see if it helps? If not please try the following:

Please attempt these tests to check for possible connection problems.

First attempt a telnet connection using the port that FTP uses.

    1) Open up a command/terminal window -
Windows: Click Start >> Run... >> and type in "cmd" and click OK button
Mac: Open the Utilities folder >> Terminal application.

    2) In either the command window or Terminal type, "telnet yourdomain.com 21" for testing FTP connectivity using port 21.

    3) If you get anything back (+OK, 220-, Welcome to pure Unlimited...) then you can make a connection. If you see nothing, or just get a blinking icon then you cannot make a connection, meaning most likely port 21 is closed or blocked on the client's end.

Also, please send us a traceroute to help us see if there are any connection issues along your route.

    For Windows:
Click Start -> Run, type CMD, press enter. -- this brings up the command prompt.
type "tracert domain.com > c:trace.txt" (without the quotes and replace domain.com with your domain name) and press enter. --this will take a second. leave it until you get the > prompt again.

    For Mac:
Open up the Terminal application (Mac HD/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
When Terminal is open type "traceroute domain.com" (without quotes and replace domain.com with your domain name)
Once it is done select all of the results and then copy it (Edit: Copy, or command + c)

Reply to this message, and either attach, or paste the contents of "trace.txt"
    ========================

I did all that, its working okay now. Thankgod as I like bluehost, esp their customer service.

Have you tried asking why your site was removed (of course the most likely reason is that your site breached their terms of service). Have you asked BlueHost for the refund?
