    Default Default.html & WordPress

    Hi All,

I just loaded Wordpress onto my server and everything seems to be running fine, except when I try to direct my blog to http://www.mrtblog.com all I get is a blank screen.

Before I received the blank screen, I received this message.

    Welcome to Bluehost.com!

This is a temporary page, that must be removed prior to viewing your site.
It is called 'default.html' and is located in the /public_html/ folder.
If you are unfamiliar with how to upload your files, click here.

I proceeded to delete the default.html file and now I have the blank screen. My blog works when I link to http://www.mrtblog.com/wordpress.

I have read similar posts on this exact same problem, however all problems were resolved by clearing the cache. That's not working for me. Also, Wordpress gives you the option to change your Blog (not directory) address so that what I'm doing should work, however it doesn't.

I have also read that I should move my files to a different directory. However I don't understand why I should do this when Wordpress explicitly states all you need to do is change your blog address.

    Puzzled

    Please help,

    Colin

I assume you fixed this since if I go to your domain I get your site come up whereas if I go to the wordpress folder I get a 404 error.

Hi, I am having the same problem for my new site michaelvo.com

I installed Wordpress via SimpleScript. I can log on to wordpress with no problem, but it does not show up when i goto my website. I can't find the "default.html" page in my public folder

    Please advise. Thanks

Your wordpress install appears to be working. The file is index.php not default.html

I am having a strange problem which I believe is related to this thread.

when I go to my website http://www.yieldwire.in I see the default Bluehost page (although I do not have a default.html in my directory have deleted it already) but when I hit F5 on that page I'm taken to the wordpress installation.

When I click the wordpress blog header again (to reach home) I am again taken to the default page.

    Please help

I just see your blog so any problem is just a cached copy of the other page on your computer.

I also just get your blog, both with FF and IE7. Perhaps your ISP is caching pages?

Ah makes sense. I called up a friend and asked him to check even he gets the correct thing.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers
