    What about the Description tag?
What if you don't include a description tag, where do the search engines get this snippet from?

Without a description tag, the search engines just grab some text from the page, which can be pretty useless, depending upon how the page is laid out. I recommend including a description tag - a nice, straighforward, one-liner that tells people what the page is about. I've found that the search engines do pick up that description, and use it when displaying search results.

Ah, okay. You were specifically singling out the keywords, I misunderstood. :P

Some search engines will grab a section of the page content even if there is a description meta tag.

FWIW, I just checked my own home page, and Google, Yahoo, Live Search, Bing, and Ask.com have all grabbed the description meta tag. Some have included some text from the page itself in addition to the tag, but the tag is the first chunk of material they display.

The META description is really important as most users will read this before clicking on your listing from a search engine.

It is important to work on your TITLE tag and META description to convey your message and make it compelling.

Get this right and you can double your traffic. A strong TITLE and META description can work wonders for you.

Make the both Compelling and Interesting.

Actually, if anyone is looking for a great SEO resource, this might be one of the best books I have read in a long time...

It is a phenomenal book about SEO and your website. I highly recommend it.
