Default How do I make my website "go live"

I uploaded a basic text file using notepad stating a new site is coming soon. I loaded it into my public_html folder. When I enter my website address i get a "forbidden error". How do I get the site to appear?

    thanks

For your site to go live your home page needs to be called index.html

Yes. By default, the domain name as the address opens 'index.html' in the 'public_html' folder.

Also, unlike Windows, the Linux OS on the server is case-sensitive so be sure not to name the file 'Index.html' or use any capital letters in the file name. (And yes, I've tripped myself up a time or two over this.)

Change the permissions of your .htaccess file in public_html to 644.

index.html, index.htm , index.php etc should work in normal cases.
