Default How to connect to phpmyadmin with Dreamweaver CS4

And I still can't find out how to connect to phpmyadmin with dreamweaver cs4.

All solutions come up empty at the end and I always end up with the error:
An ftp error occured - cannot make connection to host. The remote host cannot be found.

The info on my remote info and testing server are the same in the manage site window. I did this because the guy at customer service for bluehost said to do this. But whenever I test the connection, I get the above error.

I opened the port in the firewall (3306), I even turned off the firewall.

    None of it is working.

Anyone know what the problem is?

    I would really appreciate this.

Can you connect to any ftp sites? Can you connect using other ftp software?

    Try ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu or ftp://ftp.microsoft.com.

Download filezilla and try connecting using that.

If you can't connect to any sites then the problem is your computer. I've heard of ftp being entirely broken in some cases in Windows Vista. If you can connect to other sites and you can connect to your bluehost site using filezilla then the problem is with dreamweaver.

It's unlikely it is a firewall program since at least initially ftp is an outbound program and most programs nowadays use passive ftp which doesn't require any ports open in your firewall.

Default These entries helped me correct DWs incorrect default value

I am not sure if this will help you, but until I found the following instruction in a book by David Powers, I struggled for days setting up CS3 with an ftp error like yours.

In your site set up, according to DP, Dreamweaver defaults the wrong value in the URL prefix on the Testing Server Page.

Assuming CS4 is like CS3, on the Testing Server tab, be sure the URL prefix entry is like this: http://www.example.com. DW will try to put something like: http://ftp.example.com/home/public_html/...

    so...

    access is FTP
    FTP Host: ftp.example.com
    Host Directory: /home/mysite/public_html
    Login: username
    Password: ......
choose the right ftp If you pick Secure FTP be sure no other check boxes are marked

    URL Prefix: http://www.example.com

    Default CS4 connection

    Try this:

    1) make sure your site is set up as enuffsed listed
    2) in CS4, top right, change from Designer mode to App Developer mode
    3) open up your .php file
    4) click at the top of the code window, on Live View, just to test that your .php is picked up correctly in your server
    5) depending on if you're on a remote or local server
click + on the Databases window
    name the connection
use your IP for remote or localhost for local server
add your user name (on remote remember you list as login_user)
    password
    etc.
