    Default remove "Installed by SimpleScripts"

I installed wordpress using simplescripts and this line is in the footer:
    Installed by SimpleScripts

I want to remove it and I have been looking for over a day now and can't find where it's coming from.

Can anyone tell me what file this test is coming from so I can get rid of it?

    It's a plugin.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Thank you. I thought it was text in a PHP file somewhere. That would have taken me forever to find.

Thank you - Thank you!!! I had the same issue. Started digging through templates and footer-admin files finding NOTHING. I was about to delete my install and manually install to get rid of this. Thanks again.

So how do I figure out which plugin? I went through all of them in the settings, nothing. Are there ones known to inject this?

You should be able to see the plugin along with your other plugins. If you do not have the plugin in there, then you should not have the Simple Scripts line in the footer.

It is far easier to do the install manually than it is to install using simple scripts and then disable the plugin.

While it is true that installing manually really is quite easy, I would not go so far as to say it is easier than installing with SimpleScripts and then disabling the plugin. The SimpleScripts install is as easy as it gets. Almost all WordPress users will enable or disable plugins and clicking the disable button on the SimpleScripts plugin as they pass by is not difficult at all.

Personally I prefer to use SimpleScripts to install because it saves me time and is very easy. If anything goes wrong at a later point I can always do a manual upgrade if I need to. However, there is valuable information which beginners ought to learn by doing a manual install. There isn't an easier software and an easier guide to follow along with for learning these things than WordPress's simple install guide.

Installing with simple scripts and then disabling the plugin is a two step process.

Manually installing is also a two step process (one if you are using a database that already exists).

Once you add the second step of disabling a plugin the simple scripts install process no longer has fewer steps than a manual install.
