Subdomain Question

Hi,
I have a subdomain set up in my cpanel:

Subdomain: community.mydomain.com
Redirects to: http://mydomain.com/community/index.php

Can I make it so that when you go to community.mydomain.com, any pages in there will show up as community.mydomain.com/page.php

Basically I want the subdomain name to stay in the address bar, rather than redirecting to a directory

Isn't it as simple as removing the redirect from your .htaccess file?

Thanks, doing that caused some errors, but eventually I got it working properly.
