Default Has anyone got RoundCube to work?

Has anyone been able to successfully install RoundCube e-mail client on their website using the BlueHost knowledge Base instructions at the following link?

    http://helpdesk.bluehost.com/kb/inde...root=22&id=302

I've followed them TO THE LETTER but no deal, it doesn't work for me. When I go to www.mydomain.com/email, I see the roundcube logo and the error message SERVICE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE! Error No. 1f4.

Assuming I can get it to work, I understand it'll immediately pull off any e-mails into www.mydomain.com/email before they make it as far as Horde/Squirrel webmail? Is that correct?

I use roundcube on my site, but I didn't install it following those instructions. . it works fine, but it may be linked to my recurring cpu exceeded errors. . .

It did work for me, based on the learning from this example I installed quite a few other programs (like a customised squirrelmail, groupoffice, etc).

Have you chekecked whether that the database settings are correct? The error 1F4 indicates a database connectivity error. I would check that the database
    • name
    • username
    • password
are identical in db.inc.php and in MySQL, and check the authorization in MySQL (whether the given user can access the given database - this is the Add User to DB).

This is not the way it works. Both webmail systems use the IMAP server, so you will see the very same emails in all webmails (in squirrel you may have to enable the new folders, if you create new folders in roundcube).

Sorry to revive this old thread, I'm sure you probably have it working now but anyway. I've just installed roundcube and I was getting the error you mentioned above. Double check step 15 in the guide and go through it word for word. I think you may have overlooked replacing one of the generic username/database/password entries with your own.

It's up and running now for me!

edit: deleted old change password patch... doesn't work!

I don't have an email table.. Where would that be? In my roundcube database?

Hmmm.. nevermind. I guess our BH e-mail uses cPanel so it uses /etc/shadow for the password storage.. So that hack won't work as far as I can tell.

What about this one. I'm trying to install this one but getting a few errors. Anybody else tried it?

I think this needs root access? Do we have root access?

I tried it, but it doesn't work. In our case, bluehost uses /etc/yourdomain/shadow files for the passwords which is what rc-changepw is designed for, but doesn't work because of the ultra modified cpanel and scripts. rc-changepw just won't work out of the box, and I haven't had a chance to try to modify it for bluehost. Wish it did work because it would make life a heck of a lot easier.

Oh yeah.. the fact that we don't have root access to the box doesn't allow for us to use it anyway.. I forgot about that. Unless BH will install it for us..... Maybe if you ask nicely and let us know what happens....

In case anyone is still trying to find a change password add-on for roundcube, this one works great and is really easy to install:
