Default fastdomain.net right for our church?

We are interested in streaming higher quality videos now that everyone is moving to HD.

HD = more space and bandwidth

Another option is Vimeo but I think they display ads on your material when other members view it EVEN if you are a plus member. (trying to find that out now)

Would we run into ANY type of issues with the video and bandwidth here?

Just thinking about making a video subdomain on fast domain but keeping the main site where it is. I understand shared hosting has its benefits and down sides. The down side is down time which we have had over the last few years. Not much, but it happens. Also wondering if they would frown on the idea of having a video subdomain eg video.churchname.org

    Thanks

shared web hosting is not designed for large scale video streaming.
you can have video files stream from your site, few viewing at one time, resource usage is always a concern.

why not host the video at youtube and embed the video at your website? by this the video is stream from youtube server.

Not sure if you have been on youtube but the limit is only 15 minutes.

We are not a large church. I guess it is a question of wait and see if they actually hold up to unlimited bandwidth and space as long as we stay with our own content and keep cpu usage low. Since the static files would be read I dont believe that would be a problem

On youtube you could break down the videos to pt1, pt2, pt3, etc. How long do you expect someone to sit in front of a computer and watch a long video? I suspect that the pause button would get its share of use.

Clearly you have not thought this through. Youtube is far to distracting. Random video links alongside unreleated. Advertisements in video and on the screen that you can't control. Far too many options beyond control. 15 minutes too long? Short attention span I guess.

What would be useful rather than talking about youtube (which I imagine this forum is not used for) is to find a high quality flash player that would allow for HD.

instantnet, this is a user-to-user forum. You are not asking Bluehost staff when you post here, only other customers. They can only offer their opinions. Your questions would best be answered by contacting the Bluehost Sales department by phone or Live Chat.

As TonyS has mentioned, this is a user to user forum. I would suggest that you take a few minutes to read the Read Before You Post sticky at the top of each forum.

As for thinking this through, I know that embedding youtube into your web pages is possible. I do this on my site here at Bluehost. That removes all of the "distractions" that come with viewing them on the youtube site. That's about all I have attention span for on this thread.
