Question Image on site not updating.

I have been uploading updated images to the website using ftp. When I view them by themselves off ftp they appear correctly. When I open the index.html from ftp it views correctly. But when I go to the site through i.e., I see no change. The site is www.ecjsights.com and the change is that the image in the upper right frame should blend with the background. All I can get is the logo with a white background on the orange background. Are you all seeing it diffently than me. I cleared the cache and everything looking for a solution but I have had no luck. Any ideas?

The image is working for me. I see your logo on an orange background. It appears the same in IE and Firefox.

Did you try a SHIFT+RELOAD to clear the browser's cache and reload your page? Maybe reboot your computer then clear the browser's cache then reload your page?

    Default Update

When I go to ecjsights.com the image on the page appears correctly. It is when I go to www.ecjsights.com that the old image remains?

I'm seeing the "blended" logo just fine, so other than clearing your browser cache, I'm not sure what to tell you to do.

On an unrelated note, however, I would strongly suggest that you downsize your pictures before uploading them - even on a fast broadband connection, it takes a while for the page to come up. The little photos on your homepage are all around 1Mb. You're letting the browser resize them for you, but there's no reason to start off with such high-resolution images (no one can see the difference, especially when they're getting reduced to 100x150). Remember, when the browser does the resizing, the person looking at the page has to download the big image file - then, and only then, the browser makes it smaller.

I agree 100%. I never like to have to wait for a huge image to downlod just to display in a 1-inch square in the browser.

ecjoyce: Can you try viewing your page on a different computer? I have two computers. When I believe it could be a cache situation I'll launch the same page on my second computer. One time I couldn't get the cache to clear on a certain page via my initial computer. I didn't know what to do. My second computer on the same internet connection displayed the page correctly. Three or four hours later the first computer started displaying the page correctly too.

    Go figure, you know?

I always use ctrl+F5 to bypass the cache.

Thanks all. The ctl+f5 worked like a charm. I compressed the pics too. A vast improvement on load times!!
