Once you have the other domain's nameservers pointing to bluehost, you can use the Addon domains feature to point the new domain to a subfolder on your main account.

The domain name will be transferred with no accompanying material -- correct? In other words there will be no index page or anything?

If that is true, and after the web propogation period, what will I see if I send my browser to that url?

Probably a default BlueHost page with instructions about how to start making your web site.
