    Default Re-Direct / Shrink URL... How do I ???

Ok if you click this link it will take you to the main page / index of my SMF forum... anyway the BlueHost rep I spoke to on the phone didnt seem to be of much help even though he did try... hell maybe I didnt understand him or just did something wrong who knows... anyway my question is this... by clicking the above link it will take you to this page...

    http://www.choice-online-gaming.com/..._RC3/index.php

How do I re-direct / shrink it to where you only see this http://www.choice-online-gaming.com/index.php

I know it can be done but it has to do with re-directs or some crap... any and all help to solve this so-called mystery of mine is and would be greatly appreciated ;-)

Hope everything I've said / asked has made some sense... basically I just wana hide the **** sub-directories but still load the forum and all I know is it has to do with re-directs...

From my (very limited) knowledge of HTML, you probably want to put your forum in a frame. This might cause odd problems, but there's no harm in trying.

For example, go to this site and view the HTML source code. Although the browser says you're at "http://www.ribble-consultants.co.uk/index.html", you're actually at "http://www.lowfuss.com/ribble-consultants/rc.php".

Just use that code for your site.

Well I was going to suggest a redirection method, but you said you wanted to "hide" all the subdirectories, which a redirect (to my knowledge) won't do.

So, to do a redirect, open up Notepad and go File -> Open and enter "http://www.whodafunkit.co.uk/index.html" (without the quotes). Then you'll see a little bit of code I wrote for one of my sites. It redirects you from "http://www.whodafunkit.co.uk" to "http://www.whodafunkit.co.uk/Main/Home/index.html".

Just alter that code for your own use.

I guess I could give that a shot... but this http://www.thehoundsofrexxar.com/index.php forum / site is hosted on BlueHost like mine running the same software... and I've been talkin with the forum admin but cant get ahold of her right now to ask her for help but I know her stuff is in sub directories like mine but when you view her site you dont see the sub directories u just see the site name/index.php which is the same thing I wana do with my forum / site... hope that made sense hehe

I don't think her site is in a subdirectory, because, for example, one of the pictures is located at "http://www.thehoundsofrexxar.com/Themes/WoW/images/area_blank.gif", which would suggest that the main site is in the root.

I might be wrong though. If there is something fancy you can do with php to redirect your sites then I don't know it, because I've never worked with php.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

I'll give that zip file a shot but Strong might have a point to... if the theme folder is like that with the pics then she didnt sub direct anything its all in the main public file... never thought of that I'll just ask her when she comes online... but thx for everything guy I believe I have found my answer... and I will definately give that zip a shot first though... but if anyone else finds this post useful or wants to add some information please by all means do so...
