Default How to build wordpress site on existing domain before pointing DNS to BlueHost ?

I am the webmaster for my client. He built a site on another host that uses proprietary technology, and doesn't give him the options he wants. So, he hired me to build him a new site with the features he wants.

My plan for him was to get a more typical hosting account (with BlueHost) which we have done, then build the site in Wordpress. I want to build the site on his BlueHost account, without affecting his old site. When the new site is ready, we will switch over the DNS to BlueHost.

Domain is registered with Web.com, points to OldHost name server. Site is built on their proprietary technology. We will call it http://originalSite.net

My client purchased a blueHost account, under http://www.SomeOtherDomain.com

I attempted to create an add-on domain of http://originalSite.net with BlueHost, but it is asking me to verify ownership. I cannot swtch the DNS settings to bluehost yet, as that will bring his site down. I cannot create the web page that the BlueHost system asked me to, because their proprietary system doesn't give us that much versatility (part of the reason for switching to wordpress and a regular host). I don't see anything in his Web.com to get the EPP Auth code.

Actually, I don't even understand why this is necessary anyway, because even if I were to create a add-on domain, that doesn't mean people will be directed to it, because that is what the registar does. SO I could create an add-on of http://google.com or amazon.com and it won't make any difference.

Anyway, how can I create the add-on domain of http://originalSite.net on his blueHOst account, and install wordpress?

Once the site is built, I can change the nameserver settings at his registrar, so in theory, we won't have any downtime.

It is important to have name servers pointing as otherwise there is no way even for you to login into Wordpress. Here is the way to achieve what you want. Create a subdomain on the bluehost primary domain. Install wordpress & configure the site. Once everything is set, direct nameservers to BH. rename the subdomain directory to this new domain & link it with the domain in control panel.

I think I understand, but need to clarify the details.

So I should create a subdomain (not an add-on) at http://subdomain.someotherdomain.com

then install wordpress on this subdomain, and build the site.

Then, when we are ready to go live, go to the registrar account for http://originalSite.net , and point the nameservers to bluehost

BlueHost will allow me then to rename subdomain.someotherdomain.com to originalSite.net

And I do something in cPanel on BlueHost to link originalSite.net to subdomain.someOtherDomain.com ?
