    Default FTP/Public.html/File Zilla.

So I'm a greenhorn when it comes to publishing a website.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my home page to actually show up as my home page
    when I go to www.nameofwebsite.com (that's not my website). I e-mailed bluehost
and they said I needed to move the files to the public_html folder and rename the
home page to index.html. So I renamed it. But where do I find this public_html folder?
I'm using FileZilla and I don't see any such folder? All I see on the right side (remote site)
is a folder that says "/" but with the quotation marks. Is that the public_html folder or what?
Because it's not publishing. At least I don't see my webpage when i go to my website.
In fact the only thing I do see is a banner for bluehost.com How do I get it so Cousin Steve
From Backwater, USA can actually view my site? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Solution:
start Filezilla. hit ctl-s to enter site management. Select your site in the left panel (if you have more than one site listed), then click the 'advanced' tab on the right. You will see your default local directory (on your hard drive) and below that a place to enter default remote directory. this is where you enter /public_html Hit OK to save, then ctl-r to reconnect to the last server. That should do it.

OK I did all that and it doesn't appear to have done anything.

Do I need to put something in the "port" slot under the general tab? Could that be why nothing shows up online?

the public html folder doesn't show up but one that just says / and when I put a document in it, it ends up being
some temp folder so I don't think that was the public html folder even though I did all those steps.

I think it's the port thing. Any idea how to find the port number on a dell computer with windows xp?

Alright I got it working now. The problem was that I was creating a new host or whatever and not using
the one provided in the welcome e-mail. So thanks for the help.

I now got the first page to my website up.

I'm glad you got it to work. Sometimes, the smallest or insignificant things are the ones that cause the problems.

This happened to me again, hopefully I won't commit the same mistake.
