Default wysiwyg suggestions for non-technical new user

my church just switched to bluehost. prior to the switch, i downloaded to my laptop my full old website date. then i uploaded to bluehost the same info.

the old webhost had a control panel with its own proprietary s/w application that allowed easy creation/edits of the full (multi-page) web data.

now, my parishioners can point to our old website name and don't know the difference that they are coming via bluehost. that is good.

my secretary has been approved to be the new website manager. she is gifted with motivation but is not a master at all in website management.

one thing that would help is if i could use some sort of application that would take our old (proprietary) website application and display it in wysiwyg format so that she could more easily modify what she sees by doing drag and drop (no html coding thank you!) to update the website.

what tools/applications (free is best as we are a small membership church with low $ for this stuff) are available???

    thanks in advance!

    ron

ps: i was a unix s/w consultant prior to becoming ordained but i am truly rusty about all the veryt technical stuff as my ending goes back to 1993 and i'm geting too senior to remember all the old stuff ... which has since changed anyways pretty significantly. :-)

    Pastor,

I did some "quick" searching around and found the following link:
    http://www.webceo.com/download/

Seems fairly easy to use (wish I'd had it when I first started! ) and it's FREE, which is always a good thing. If this doesn't work for you, send me a pm and I'll do some more hunting.

I listened to a bit of your sermon, very nice! Your pictures did not come over, you might check the links and make sure they are reading the correct directory. Let me know if you need help.

    GOD Bless,
    Beti

    Default Vnu downloaded for trying

    thanks for your suggestions.

i downloaded the Vnu user's guide and then knew which version to download (full windows version) and am now trying to learn how to use it. once i learn, then i'll pass the info on to my church secretary.

at least it shows a wysiwyg of our old website and will display the code as well.

yes,, i see that the all the old images don't load. i don't know why. some load and some do not.

    best,

    ron

The W3C Markup Validation Service is your friend when doing web design.
This link will show you 137 errors on your web page plus hints on how to fix them.

BTW, I notice that you don't have a favicon so the BlueHost default favicon is displayed on your site. If you are using Internet Explorer, you won't even see it until you add the site to your "Favorites Menu". Almost every other browser shows the favicon to the left of the URL in the location bar and on tabs. You can add one by puting a 16x16 graphic named "favicon.ico" (in Microsoft's ".ico" format) in your top-level directory.

    Default wow!

wow! i had *no* idea there were so many errors! the web page was generated via using a control panel with directdomain ... so no coding was done by the person from church who was updating the ws over the past 3 years.

now, here's my situation as best i understand it (and to be honest, i'm in a bit of a fog.)

the ws you see is 3 years old in the making. i think i want to begin from scratch *but* i also don't want to trash all the work done from the past. iow, i'd like to make sure i keep some of the stuff that has been created but just not in the framework in which it currently exists.

some things are necessary to post in a new ws immediately such as our grant process (legacy grant) as this is a vehicle for outsiders to use to get grant applications fo rthem to fill out and submit back to our church to help us fund their favorite mission projects. our church would (rightly) have my head if i lost that capability in the new ws.

so, given that i am not even knowledgeable of the file names used on our current ws for the many different things on the ws, i sure would like to be able to drag and drop from the old ws to the new ws.

and, not knowing html, and needing to be studying for my sermon prep for tomorrow ... well, i need something very simple to use.

i wish i had an online chat for Vnu but when i joined it, i was alone ... so, no good talking to myself! ;-)

well, 28 hrs until worship. gotta go.

    thanks for your help.

    ron
