    Default Another newbie simple question!!!!

    Hello fellow Bluehosters!

I have just got my account up and running and am looking forward to finally getting myself online!

Perhaps the most basic question of all to begin with though:

When I go to my domain my index.html file does not work, and I see the bluehost placeholder instead.
If I put my index into a directory the index file works though!

Why does the bluehost placeholder over-ride my index.html?
do I need to use another directory inside /public_html and then redirect to it so that my domain is www.blah.com (instead of www.blah.com/blah)?

Thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting you in more detail soon!

You need to delete the file thats called i think default.html or something to that effect. It is in the public_html folder.

If you plan to use multi domains in your account, I will suggest you to do so.

So, your structure will look like this :

    public_html/
    public_html/main_domain/
    public_html/other_domain/
    public_html/also_domain/

In this way you will be able to manage your account more easily.

When you add on more domains Bluehost will add directories under public_html with the same name as the add-on domain. You should not need to add a directory for your main domain. Delete the file "default.html" from the public_html directory and your site should work ok.
